May "Calm In the Chaos" Workshop

Calm in the Chaos is a beginner DSLR workshop, brought to you by Nat Knight Photography.

As mums with a young family, chaos and clutter can dominate day-to-day life. But there are moments of calm in the chaos, and I want to help mums photograph it.

The 3-hour Calm in the Chaos Workshop teaches participants how to document everyday life – the smiles, the tears and everything in between. We all know that life isn’t perfect, but the photograph can be.

It’s the ideal workshop for a busy mum with an expensive camera that she doesn’t know how to use – teaching light and scene as we build knowledge and confidence, so parents can document those little moments and create photographs that you are proud to hang on your walls.

Organise a workshop with your friends or come on your own and make some new ones. Spaces for the March Workshop are limited to 10 participants, so don’t delay!

Next Workshop: Sunday 27th May 2018

10:00 am at the Nat Knight Photography home studio in Kellyville Ridge, Sydney (address will be provided upon registration). Please note that class sizes are limited to 8-10 mums to allow ample time for each participant.

What you’ll learn:

  •   How to recognise the moments you want to photograph

  •   Working with light, composition and the camera you already have

  •   Shooting in manual mode – working with the exposure triangle: Shutter, Aperture,

      ISO

  •   What additional camera gear is available, what's worth it and what’s affordable

  •   Taking candid photos that become a memory that tells a story, and importantly, how

to overcome your kids either not letting you take their photo, or posing for a photo

  •   How to shoot your own photos, with approximately 30mins of shooting practice and

      Q&A

  •   How to document everyday life and photograph the magic in the madness, and the

calm in the chaos. You’ll laugh, learn and be so glad you did it!

Please note that I will be teaching participants how I photograph my own children, with very candid, documentary-style storytelling tips and tricks. This workshop does not cover posing or use of props, backdrops or set-ups.

This workshop also doesn’t cover post processing techniques. However, one-on-one mentoring sessions are available, should you wish to learn more about editing.

This workshop is not about the business end of photography, nor is it for people who want to start a photography business. We will not discuss professional photography vendors for print products.

What You’ll Take Home:

  •   Wonderful new skills to photograph the calm in the chaos

  •   New friendships with other mummies who are photography enthusiasts

  •   Access to my private Facebook group for Workshop participants, where you’ll get

support and have an opportunity to ask questions and post photographs showing off

      what you have learnt!

  •   BONUS participation in my 3-day Photography Challenge, where I critique your images

      (valued at $250)

What to Bring

  •   Your camera (a DSLR is not required, however I recommend a camera with manual settings)

  •   Your camera manual

  •   A notebook and pen
